Electrical Engineering Intern

The Electrical Engineering Intern will assist engineering staff with technical, analytical, and administrative tasks supporting electric utility operations. Duties will vary depending on experience, academic background, and career interests. They will work with engineers, technicians, and other utility personnel across multiple departments. Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas related to engineering projects and process improvements. Some assignments may involve outdoor work and supervised hands-on exposure to electrical equipment and field environments.

Job Requirements:

• Enrolled in an ABET-accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related Engineering field.
• Completion of at least one year of engineering coursework.
• Interest in pursuing a long-term career in the electric utility industry is preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist with maintaining and updating relay settings databases, control logic, and protective relay firmware.
• Support engineering studies using computer modeling tools, including voltage drop analysis, load flow analysis, fault current calculations, and protection coordination studies.
• Update and maintain equipment and asset databases.
• Assist with testing equipment and verifying SCADA mapping.
• Assist with updating AutoCAD drawings for substation electrical schematics and control logic diagrams.
• Support the development or automation of internal processes using tools such as Excel, VBA, SQL, Python, or similar technologies.
